A Letter From Our Executive Director
Thank you!
What an incredible gift you all have given to help students get to camp. The $10,500 you generously donated lowered our costs and provided funds for our scholarship program, allowing more students the opportunity to attend.
You made a difference! You stepped into the gap; now our youth can be part of a group where they feel cared for, have fun, and hear about God who loves them. I can’t wait to share some great stories with you later this summer.
A couple of years ago, we took a group of teens on a trip, and one of our students, Sam, first opened up and spoke with our team about faith. He was a very bright student who seemed skeptical of who God is and why we serve Him, but Sam knew we cared for him. This same boy, who is now a young man, is not only following Jesus, but he is also growing and serving in a local church.
That’s the win. Students who know they’re loved and know God who saved them. Students who are plugged into a local church. And students who become adults and point others to their source of hope.
Our strategy is not to keep these students in our ministry; although we’d love to have them, it’s for them to join a community where they can grow and become servant leaders themselves. That’s why I love the story of Sam.
That’s why the journey doesn’t end with camp. Camp, for some, is the culmination of work that’s been done throughout the year. The work of building trust, introducing deeper conversations, and building relationships. For some, camp is the beginning of their story, as they develop a relationship with God and learn to be part of a faith community. For some, it’s the beginning of healing.
I would like to challenge you to be part of this ongoing work, to be a partner in the adventure these students are on. Your gift to camp is going to help teens have an experience that is going to, prayerfully, bring them to a decision. A decision that will leave a meaningful impact on this generation and the one to follow.
Would you be willing to become a monthly partner?
Our goal is for every student in the West Sound to have the ability to respond to the Gospel. It’s a big responsibility, and we’ve already made great progress with your help. This year, we were able to give that opportunity to almost a thousand students.
Please pray for this next school year that God would do even greater things.
